Dental Implants in Karachi: Who Is a Candidate, and What to Ask

Losing a tooth changes more than your smile. Chewing becomes harder, the teeth beside the gap can drift, and the bone in that spot slowly shrinks. A dental implant is one way to replace the tooth, and it is often discussed. It is not the only way, and it is not right for everyone.

What an implant is

An implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone. Over a few months it fuses with the bone. A crown is then fixed on top, so you have a replacement tooth that does not rely on the teeth next to it.

Who is usually a good candidate

Things that need extra care

The process

  1. Examination, X-rays and sometimes a 3D scan to measure bone
  2. A plan that explains the steps and the likely timeline
  3. Placing the implant under local anaesthetic
  4. A healing period, which differs for each patient
  5. Fitting the final crown

Alternatives

A bridge uses the teeth either side of the gap, which must be prepared. A denture is removable and often the lowest-cost option. Each has advantages and drawbacks, and a good dentist will explain all of them, not only one.

Questions to ask before you decide

Success and longevity

Implants are widely used and often last many years, but no dentist can promise how long yours will last. Cleaning and regular check-ups make a large difference.
